Columbus Police are investigating the armed robbery of Comfort Suites, 5236 Armour Road, by a man and a woman about 12:20 a.m. Tuesday.

The man, armed with a hammer, jumped on the counter and demanded money, said Lt. Mark Starling. The clerk complied and the man jumped off the counter to leave. Then the woman reached behind the counter, lifted the cash drawer out and took it with her. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

They reportedly fled in a newer model SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Suburban, possibly blue over silver or green over a gold bottom.

The male suspect was described as 45-50 years old, six-foot to six-foot-two, wearing a green shirt and tan pants. The female was described as 35-40 years old, five-foot-three, wearing a blue shirt.
