Valley Police Investigate Shooting

Police in Valley, Ala. are investigating a homicide.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, Valley police were called to North Street near the intersection of Columbus Road and found a body lying on the side of the road.

An Alabama State Trooper was in the area and also responded.

The body was that of a 17-year-old black male. Valley EMS was called.

It was determined that the victim had died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The body was taken to George H. Lanier Hospital pending transfer to the Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy.

The case is being investigated by the Valley Police Department, the Chambers County Coroner's Office and the District Attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit.
