Restaurants feted for being smoke free

Two Phenix City businesses were honored by the Coalition for a Tobacco-Free Phenix City Thursday for maintaining a smoke-free environment for their customers and employees.

Jim Fisher, the general manager for The Char-Broil Steakhouse, 3546 Highway 280/431, and Ed Simmons, the owner of Ed's Country Cooking and Bar-b-que, 1017 12th Place, were presented with plaques to signify their adherence to a smokefree environment.

Kathryn Molnar of the Coalition and Georgia Laningham and Virgil Green of Phenix City Beautiful were on hand to make the presentations.

The coalition is an organization dedicated to make public buildings tobacco free and keep the public aware of the health benefits of a smoke-free environment.
