A Columbus man was shot three times Saturday when a verbal altercation turned violent.
Jeffrey L. Larry, 51, was in serious but satisfactory condition at The Medical Center after he was shot in the right side, the left shoulder and the left leg at his 3150 Plateau Drive, Lot 503 address around 5 p.m., said Police Lt. Mark D. Starling.
Corry Roanokes, 28, is charged with shooting Larry with a 9 mm pistol during an argument between Larry and Roanokes' sister, Lisa Roanokes, Starling said. Lisa and Corry's mother lived with Larry, Starling said.
Starling said Lisa Roanokes got upset at Larry when she dropped her baby during the argument, and she hit him with a broom.
When Larry picked up a machete, Corry Roanokes shot him three times, Starling said.
Corry Roanokes is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, Starling said.
Corry Roanokes, who turned himself in, told police he shot Larry in self defense.
