Skate park to be named for Hatcher

The skate park to be built near the Columbus Civic Center will be named after Jonathan Alexander Hatcher, the late Columbus State University student who helped make it a reality.

Columbus Council passed a resolution today naming the future park in honor of the Hardaway High School graduate. The resolution said Hatcher assisted in drawing up the first designs for a skateboard park.

Hatcher was 19, majoring in criminal justice at CSU, when he died on Nov. 2, 2005.

Hatcher served as president-elect of the Columbus Youth Advisory Council in 2001-2002 and president in 2002-2003.
