Peachtree Mall shoppers experience victory, defeat

Thanks to the lure of goodie bags and door-buster discounts, Peachtree Mall had a crowded parking lot when it opened at 6 a.m. today. Many shoppers arrived at the mall before opening time, waiting in line outside stores to cash in on warnings of "while supplies last." "We stood outside of Victoria's Secret for an hour," said Kelli Turner, 15, who was shopping Friday with friends. The early arrival time paid off. The Columbus teen got the coveted limited-edition "Supermodel" tote bag, free today with any $60 purchase at the store. But not all shoppers were successful, particularly those looking to take advantage of electronics bargains. When Michelle Wynne, 48, arrived at Radio Shack at 7 a.m., the discounted products she wanted — a camera and Zune media player — were already gone. It was an early-morning disappointment for Wynne, who lives in Michigan and is visiting family in Columbus. "We came all the way here to shop," she jokingly said. "What a waste of time."
