Man arrested in doughnut robbery

Columbus Police cleared the Monday armed robbery of Golden Donuts, 625 Manchester Expressway, with the early Tuesday arrest of a Columbus man who turned himself in on what he thought was another outstanding warrant.

Tommy Davis, 33, of 1620 9th St., turned himself in to police at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, said Columbus Police Lt. Steve Cox.

"He thought it was something else, but it was the armed robbery warrant," said Cox.

A white male claiming to have a gun robbed Golden Donuts of an undisclosed amount of cash between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. Monday and made off on foot, police said. The robber did not show a gun and no one was injured in the incident.
