Idol auditions take on Charleston

"American Idol" auditions will travel to Charleston on tonight's one-hour episode, which airs at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Tuesday's San Diego-based show generated few standout performances, despite executive producer Nigel Lythgoe's reported claim that the city generated the most talent overall.

Memorable singers included a Mariah Carey wannabe (train wreck) and Carly Hennessy Smithson, who reportedly had an extensive deal in the past with MCA Records.
