John Greenhaw didn't even see the ball roll into the cup.
Greenhaw, playing a a local tournament sponsored by Mercedes-Benz at the Green Island Country Club in September, had hit a four iron to the elevated eighth green when he saw the ball vanish. Then someone began furiously waiving their hat and arms.
Greenhaw thought the man was trying to let him know he had hit a good shot. It wasn't until the foursome traveled the168 yards to the green when Greenhaw realized Joe Johnson, the man trying to get his attention, was telling him he had a hole-in-one.
With that, Greenhaw had the fifth hole-in- one of his golfing career, and a brand new 2008 Mercedes-Benz ML350 in his future. Today, he collected the prize at Mercedes-Benz of Columbus, 7470 Veterans Parkway, Columbus. Jack Romeo, the new sales car manager at the dealership, presented Greenhaw the keys and saleman Craig Greene gave him a briefing on the vehicle's features as Greenhaw's wife Anita watched.
Keys in hand, Greenhaw had only one thing left to do. He hadn't tried any of the birthday cake he had served family and friends just moments earlier. Today, Greenhaw celebrates his 59th birthday.
