Auto thieves active in LaGrange

The police department in LaGrange, Ga. is warning motorists to make sure their vehicles are locked when left unattended, that vehicles not be left running while unoccupied and that vehicle keys be placed in a secure location.

The reason for the warning is that 16 motor vehicle thefts have already been reported in the city this year.

Over the past 10 years, the annual average of vehicle thefts has been 112.

There were 177 motor vehicle thefts in 2004 but only 57 in 2000. There were 132 last year.
