Armed robbers hit Waffle House

Columbus Police are investigating the armed robbery of the Waffle House, 3455 Macon Road, early Monday.

Two men walked into the restaurant about 12:10 a.m. and one pulled a handgun, demanding money from the cash register, Columbus Police Lt. Lynn Joiner said Monday.

An employee handed over the money and the men ran out, entering a newer model Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck, dark-colored, possibly dark blue, with loud mufflers, witnesses told police. The vehicle was seen heading south on Interstate 185.

Joiner said both men were reportedly wearing masks. One was described as six-feet tall, wearing dark clothing, and the other, six-foot-five, wearing dark clothing and brandishing a chrome revolver.

No injuries were reported and no arrests had been made by Monday afternoon, Joiner said.
