Kia Motors hitting job fair circuit

Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia will be at Columbus Technical College Wednesday for a job fair.

The South Korea-based automaker is seeking prospects for its 1.4 million-square-foot assembly plant being constructed in West Point, Ga., about 45 minutes north of Columbus.

The factory will employ about 2,500 and is scheduled to open by late 2009.

The job fair will take place 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the student center in Patrick Hall at the college, 928 Manchester Expressway.

The company is taking applications online at www.kiajobsingeorgia.com.

Kia is in the middle of a technical college recruitment drive that began last week in Albany, Ga., followed by a fair near Carrollton, Ga.

After Columbus, Kia representatives will be at Central Georgia Technical College, 3300 Macon Tech Drive, in Macon, Ga.

That's followed by a stop Feb. 6 at Savannah Technical College, 190 Crossroads Parkway, Suite 100, in Savannah, Ga.

Hours for both of those fairs are 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The automaker also is scheduled to attend a major job fair Feb. 7 at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center, 801 Front Ave., in Columbus. Hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m. More than 100 employers are expected at that event.
