Giovanni to speak for black history

Auburn University's Black Student Union will launch its celebration of Black History Month on Friday as poet activist and authro Nikki Giovanni talks about her latest book and offers insights on current issues.

The professor of English at Virginia Tech will in the Foy Ballroom from 7 p.m.-10 p.m.

The recipient of 25 honorary degrees, she has been named Woman of the Year by Mademoiselle Magazine, The Ladies Home Journal and Ebony Magazine. She was the first recipient of the Rosa L. Parks Woman of Courage Award and was awarded the Langston Hughes Medal for poetry.
