A portion of Second Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting, so Norfolk Southern Railroad can do necessary railroad maintenance, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.
The closing will begin at 19th Street, a couple of blocks north of the Second Avenue bridge, and continue through 35th Street, near the Fox Elementary School area, requiring motorists to take a detour route. That temporary route will be marked with signs, barricades, barrels and cones guiding motorists along the route.
DOT officials urge motorists to comply with the detour, pointing out this is a work zone and safety is important.
