Two men shot, but don't want investigation

Two Columbus men who were shot outside a nightclub early Friday signed waivers stating they didn't want police to investigate it.

Lt. Charles Kennedy said Columbus police were called to the Ritmo Latino Club, 3454 N. Lumpkin Road, about 3 a.m.

Daveka Wade, 33, who lives near Buena Vista Road, was transported to The Medical Center with gunshot wounds to the left shoulder and back, Kennedy said. He was listed in stable condition after undergoing surgery. Wade told police he was shot in the back while walking across the road to his car.

Wesley Lamar Flakes, 21, who lives near St. Mary's Road, was shot in the lower arm and drove himself to Doctor's Hospital, where Kennedy said he was treated and released. He said the bullet passed through Flakes' arm.

"Flakes said he got into a fight with an individual and was shot," Kennedy said. "He never said who shot him. Wade said the other guy had a weapon and he didn't. Unless they want to pursue it any further, we won't pursue it. We know both of these individuals."
