Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue has declared this week as "Severe Weather Awareness Week."
Georgia Emergency Management Agency Director Charley English says that now is the "perfect time for every family in Georgia to plan and rehearse what they should do during the first 72-hours of any severe weather-related event or disaster."
Families should gather information about hazards, meet to create a plan, and implement that that plan by doing such things as posting emergency telephone numbers, installing safety features in the house and inspecting the home for potential hazards.
