Armed robber hits Waffle House

A man armed with a dark-colored semi-automatic pistol robbed The Waffle House, 6390 Flat Rock Road, of an undisclosed amount of cash at 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Columbus police Lt. Lynn Joiner said the white male wearing a black ski mask robbed one of two male employees in the restaurant before leaving in a black car headed toward Macon Road.

"One employee was working in a back storage room and hid back there during the robbery," Joiner said. "There was no phone back there for him to use. The other employee was robbed."

The employee described the robber as six-foot-three, medium to muscular build, and wearing a black windbreaker and gloves and bluejeans.
