The Columbus Lawyers Educational Foundation (CLEF) has established a Columbus Truancy Intervention Project (TIP) Challenge Court Campaign.
Columbus TIP works with the Muscogee County Juvenile Court to indentify the at-risk students involved with problems of truancy, and provides mentors to those students to encourage them to stay in school and to emphasize the importance of an education.
The success rate for 2006-2007 was an 85 percent improvement in attendance for students in the program.
CLEF will match up to $10,000 in contributions from individuals or groups. A successful challenge grant will therefore raise $20,000.
