Judge grants immunity to two officers in Walker case

Two officers present the night Kenneth Walker was killed by former Muscogee County Deputy David Glisson have been granted immunity in a civil suit filed by Walker's widow.

Three days after the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals sent the case back to U.S. District Court Judge Clay Land, the judge ordered this morning that Lt. Jim Price and Sgt. Rick Stinson be granted immunity.

Land previously had ruled both could have been liable for Walker's detention on the fatal night. Stinson could have faced trial for detaining others.

"With today's ruling, summary judgment has now been granted in favor of all defendants on all of plaintiff's claims, except for plaintiff's claims against defendant Glisson in his individual capacity," Land writes. "Those claims against defendant Glisson in his individual capacity remain pending for trial."
