An anonymous tip giving specific information about two men selling drugs at the Cagle's Inc. poultry plant in Pine Mountain Valley resulted in the recent arrest of two LaGrange, Ga., men by Harris County Sheriff's Department deputies.
Elmottis Dwayne Nelson, 31, of 129 Cross Creek Drive, and Antonio Donelle Newton, who will be 32 today (Friday), of 809 E. Depot St., face charges of possessing "crack" cocaine with intent to distribute and possessing marijuana with intent to distribute, Sheriff Mike Jolley said Thursday. Newton was released from the Harris County Jail on bonds totaling $11,144. Nelson remains in jail under $11,144 in bonds.
The two men were arrested at the intersection of Ga. 354 and 116 in Pine Mountain Valley Jan. 25. Investigators had received an anonymous tip stating that Newton and Nelson were selling crack and marijuana at Cagle's.
"The caller provided a tag number of the vehicle and the names of both suspects," said Jolley. "Also provided was the time they would be in the area trying to sell. Investigators set up surveillance in the area and patrol divisions were provided the tag number and description of the vehicle. Deputy Dwight Duke observed the vehicle as it approached Ga. 116 from 354 and conducted a traffic stop for failure to maintain a single lane of traffic. Investigators were notified the vehicle was stopped and met with Duke and Lt. Stan Armbrust."
