Chris Spraggins of Columbus High is one of 10 finalists chosen from a pool of 141 applicants who were chosen as the teacher of the year in their school district. Spraggins teaches chemistry, biology and physics.
Also chosen from this area is David Curtis a science teacher from Callaway High in Troup County and Tracy Wilson, a special education teacher from Americus-Sumter County High School.
A panel of judges will observe and interview each of the finalists at their school over the next month. The winner will be announced at the Georgia Teacher of the Year Banquet on May 9 at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.
