Columbus planners announced Thursday a new April festival to occupy the weekend of the former Riverfest.
On April 25-26, the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau unveils SpringFest — a music, art and food festival that they hope will grow to the size of Historic Columbus' storied Riverfest. Riverfest was abandoned after a drop in attendance and loss of revenue in 2006.
SpringFest will be a free family festival, stretching between the 900 and 1100 blocks of Broadway. Some 30 bands, including many local acts, will perform. There will also be a local talent show. The RiverCenter will host a concert tied to SpringFest, with Nashville girl-group Cowboy Crush on April 26. That show is the sole ticketed SpringFest event, with $25 tickets.
