AT&T is top telecom on Fortune list, Apple is tops overall

Fortune magazine has named AT&T, which employs about 400 people in Columbus, as "America's Most Admired Telecommunications Company," the San Antonio-based firm said Monday.

AT&T has topped the Fortune list in the telecom sector 10 out of the last 13 years.

Fortune compiled the "Most Admired" lists, which appear in its March 17 edition, by polling Fortune 1000 and Global 500 company executives and board directors, seeking their thoughts on those firms with top-notch reputations. Financial analysts also were surveyed.

Criteria, according to AT&T, included the "ability to attract and retain talented people, quality of products and services, quality of management, innovation, social responsibility, use of corporate assets and long-term investment value."
