The cause of the blaze has not been determined.
About 50 to 75 percent of the structure was damaged by the fire, including the kitchen and the laundry room, and Kennedy said the rest of the house probably had smoke damage.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in 40 minutes, but didn't leave the scene until 1:30 p.m.. Kennedy said.
An elderly woman was in the house at the time of the blaze, but made it out safely. She has been put up by the Red Cross in a temporary home.
