Reward offered for info in Auburn shooting

The Alabama governor is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for the shooting death of an Auburn University student.

Lauren A. Burk of Marietta was found along Ala. 147 on Tuesday night, suffering from a single-gunshot wound. Burk, 18, was transported to the East Alabama Medical Center where she died.

"Everything that can be done must be done to bring this killer to justice. I hope that this reward will encourage someone who can help police solve this crime to come forward, " Gov. Bob Riley said in a statement. "Our prayers go out to Lauren's family and friends during this difficult time."

Individuals with information about the shooting should contact Auburn police Detective James Perry at 334-501-3140.
