The Lee County school board will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Lee County Schools Instructional Center in Salem.
The board will approve an employment contract for superintendent Steve Nowlin.
The board voted 6-1 to select Nowlin as the system's new superintendent, pending contract negotiations at their meeting last month. Nowlin has been leading the system as interim superintendent since August, after 16-year veteran John Painter stepped down.
Nowlin's contract is expected to be similar to Painter's, who had an annual salary of $125,000.
The board will also vote on a proposed school calendar for 2008-2009.
