College students flock to Habitat project

More than 230 college students from across the country are spending spring break in Columbus hammering away.

The students from 10 different colleges and universities are building 10 Habitat for Humanity homes off Benning Drive in South Columbus. They started building Monday and will conclude the blitz on Friday.

"It's a great opportunity to do something a little different," said Lindsay Davis, a 20-yeart-old Syracuse University junior. "This is the first time I have done this."

There are 25 Syracuse students in Columbus and another 135 at other builds this week.

Other schools building in Columbus are University of Central Missouri, Dallas Baptist University, Ashland (Ohio) University, Ferris (Mich.) State University, University of Kentucky, Ithica (N.Y.) College, New Jersey City University, Washington College and the University of Pittsburgh.
