After winning the Class AAA state championship on Saturday night, Kendrick is looking for donations to help cover the cost of the state champion rings. The Lady Cherokees knocked off Carrollton 79-67 on Saturday to become the first become Muscogee County School District team to win a girls basketball state title. Kendrick became the third girls team in the last decade to complete an unbeaten season. Each of the previous four years, Kendrick came close to winning a state championship. Kendrick was eliminated in the semifinals or finals each of those seasons. For those interested in more information about making a donation, contact Kendrick coach Sterling Hicks at 706-577-6565. Donations also can be made to the Kendrick girls basketball booster club.
