A bill before the Georgia House Rules Committee would give authorities the power to suspend police officers in emergency situations.
Senate Bill 373 would provide for the suspension of an officer if he is arrested or indicted for a felony. The bill, if it becomes law, would also change the requirements for becoming a peace officer.
The bill is expected to reach the Rules Committee Tuesday.
