David Hernandez, the singer at the root of this season's biggest "American Idol" scandal, was eliminated from the reality TV show Wednesday night.
About two weeks ago, a manager at Phoenix-based Dick's Cabaret confirmed Hernandez once worked there, appearing fully nude as a male stripper.
While his candidacy was to some extent marred by scandal, Hernandez still managed to garner fairly positive reviews from fans and judges in earlier weeks. But Tuesday, his rendition of "I Saw Her Standing There" was universally panned by the three-judge panel. Simon Cowell called it "corny verging on desperate."
Still, the singer's elimination was a surprise to some fans, especially in light of many female singers' forgettable performances.
