More than 100 employers are expected to attend a job fair Wednesday at Columbus State University.
The fair, called Careers Expo 2008, will take place 1-4 p.m. inside the university's Lumpkin Center. The CSU campus is located at 4225 University Ave.
The event, open to the general public, is being held by CSU's Career Center and Accounting Principals Inc.
Employers will come primarily from the Southeastern region, although the U.S. Border Patrol in Arizona is committed to attend the fair, CSU said.
Corporations, federal and state agencies, school districts and non-profit groups all will be part of the mix.
"A survey of participating employers revealed a strong demand for new graduates in the fields of education, business and the sciences,” said Lyn Riggsby-Gonzales, Career Center coordinator.
Co-sponsors of the job fair include Aflac, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia and Wellpoint Inc., Clear Channel Communications, CareerBuilder, Country’s Barbecue, Doctors Hospital, Ledger-Enquirer, St. Francis Hospital, Staffing Solutions, Synovus Financial Corp., TIC Federal Credit Union, TSYS, WLGA-TV and WTVM-TV.
The Career Center said it also will promote the job fair the week before, setting up a rock-climbing wall 11 a.m.-1 p.m. March 12 at the T.Y. Whitley Clock Tower. The theme is "Climb Your Way to Success."
