Columbus police have arrested another suspect in a December shooting. Police arrested Miranda Jones, 24, Friday night on outstanding warrants in connection with a shooting that occurred on 17th Avenue on Dec. 22.
The victims, brother and sister Christopher and Shontoria Mitchell, were riding in their car when Christopher Mitchell pulled into a lot to turn around. Another car pulled up nearby, and a man got out and began firing a rifle. Christopher Mitchell put his car in reverse and slammed into a tree across the street. He ran to his father's house on 16th Avenue, leaving his sister in the car. Residents of the area called the police for help.
Police arrested Maurice Jerrell Walker on two counts of aggravated assault soon after the shooting. The car in which Walker was riding was driven by a female, police said. Jones was held in the Muscogee County Jail and charged with two counts of aggravated assault. Bond is set at $24,000. She is scheduled to appear in Recorder's Court on Thursday at 2 p.m.
