Nearly 200 children and adults from several local schools filled the streets of Phenix City with green cheer Monday morning during the annual St. Patrick's Day parade.
The event, in it's third year since the school reopened, featured students from St. Patrick's School, Mother Mary Catholic School, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, and Pacelli High School.
The Pacelli High School jazz band provided music along the parade route.
Before the parade began, a chorus from Mother Mary Catholic School sang and Phenix City Mayor Jeff Hardin proclaimed the day at St. Patrick's School Day. Also speaking were Father Tom Weise and Sister Grace Raymond, the school's former principal.
Organizers said they hope to expand the parade next year, including Columbus in the route.
"We would like to make it a bi-city event," said Brenda Clark, president of the parent teacher organization at St. Patrick's School.
