National Medal of Honor Day Tuesday

Fort Benning commander Maj. Gen. Walt Wojdakowski and retired Lt. Gen. Bill Caldwell will be among the speakers as Columbus celebrates National Medal of Honor Day Tuesday.

The city's only living Medal of Honor recipient, 85-year-old Bob Nett, is expected, health permitting, to attend the 2 p.m. event at the Government Center. Nett is one of four recipients whose names decorate a monument near the Eternal Flame on 9th Street. The others are Freeman Horner, Charles McGaha and Donald Johnson.
