One contestant will be sent home on tonight's episode of "American Idol," which begins at 9 p.m. on Fox.
Tuesday, singers performed songs from their birth years. The obvious leader of the pack was David Cook, who gave Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" a hard-rock edge.
Another memorable rocker, at least in the judges' minds, was Michael Johns. The Australian heartthrob took on Queen's "We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions" and got rave reviews.
The less memorable performances? Chikezie deviated from his recent high-energy bluegrass tunes and took on a Luther Vandross ballad -- only to be called cheesy by judge Simon Cowell. And seemingly invincible Kristy Lee Cook got positive feedback from the judges when she performed "God Bless the USA," but many bloggers criticized her song choice.

And apparent crowd favorite David Archuleta also struggled, largely as a result of the widely unknown song -- "You're the Voice" -- he chose. Cowell compared it to a theme park performance.
