People interested in running for office as a Republican in Russell County has another week to sign up and be counted.
The deadline qualify as a GOP candidate for the June 3 primary election is April 4 at 5 p.m., not March 28 as previously reported.
Gary Head, the chairman of the Russell County Republican Club, confirmed the date on Friday. The date and time is the same as the county Democratic Party. The offices on the ballot for the primary election include all seven Russell County commission seats, the revenue commissioner post, the at-large and District 1 seats on the Russell County School Board and the constable posts.
The primary election is separate from the Phenix City Council election, which will have official qualification in July with the election on Aug. 26.
