Callaway Gardens plant fair in full bloom

Instead of buggies, shoppers at the Callaway Gardens plant fair and sale pulled little red wagons, filling them with plants as they moved through the aisles Friday afternoon.

Betty DeMent had a Pretty Moon Azalea in two.

"I thought it was pretty, it caught my eye," DeMent said.

The event, which began Thursday evening, continues Saturday and Sunday, from 10am-6pm EDT both days, at the beach dome at the Robin Lake Beach at Callaway Gardens.

Twenty nurseries and specialty vendors from throughout the Southeast have a varietyof flowering plants, shrubs, and garden-related items for sale.

This weekend, members of the Southern Rivers Guild of Artists and Craftsmen, which includes painters, potters, jewelers, blacksmiths, woodcarvers and mosaic makers will be selling their creations.

Admission to the sale is free when entering through the bach gate on U.S. Hwy 27. Admission will be charged for those wishing to visit the rest of Callaway Gardens.
