City skate park gets Web site

Skateboarders tracking twists and turns in the ongoing construction of a city skate park don't have to get up, get out and go look at what's going on.

If they have access to the city's Web site, they don't even have to leave their seats.

The Columbus Parks & Recreation Department has a Web page devoted to photo updates on the project, though the construction's now moving faster than the posted images.

On Wednesday workers were carving out bowls and molding ridges on the South Commons site east of Golden Park, off 4th Street near the base of the Oglethorpe Bridge.

Parks & Rec plans to post weekly updates on the $700,000 park being built by California Skateparks Inc. of Upland, Calif.

The Web site is www.columbusga.org/parks/skatepark/index.htm.
