Columbus police investigating death as homicide

Police are investigating the death of a man found Wednesday in his Columbus apartment as a homicide.

Paul Hill Sr., 67, of Apt. C, 3330 Marathon Drive, was discovered by his son just after 2 p.m., said Columbus Police Lt. Steve Cox. Hill was found on the apartment floor and pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Pamela Smith at 2:41 p.m.

"It's being investigated as a homicide," Cox said. "It's not a natural death."

Hill's son hadn't seen his father since Easter. The body was decomposing, Cox said.

Cox said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's crime lab in Atlanta would determine the cause of death, declining to say what, if any, marks were found on Hill.

Police have no suspects in the case, Cox said.
