Riley wants funding for Pre-K

Alabama Gov. Bob Riley urged a crowd of 1,000 pre-kindergarten advocates to walk up to the State House and call on their legislators to support increaded funding for pre-K.

A press release quotes Riley as saying, "Walk up to State House. Find your representatives and senators and tell them to vote for this budget because pre-K is co crucial to the future of our state." The Governor's education budget proposal includes $30 million for Alabama's First Class Voluntary Pre-K Initative. That's a proposed increase of $20 million over the current funding level.
