Cause of death determined in Wednesday homicide case

A man found dead Wednesday in his Columbus home appears to have died from blunt force trauma and gunshot wounds to the head, coroner Bill Thrower said.

Thrower said Arthur Paul Hill, a 67-year-old found dead in his apartment on Marathon Drive, was pronounced dead at 2:41 p.m. Wednesday by Deputy Coroner Pamela Smith.

Thrower said the type of weapon used against Hill is still under investigation.

Hill was found with cuts to his head and face. It appeared that his apartment had been forcibly entered through the front door.

Hill's son said he hadn't seen his father since Easter and went to check on him Wednesday. He called police once he arrived.

When officers found Hill's body, it was decomposing.
