Auburn police charge two men in thefts

Auburn police have arrested two men after they allegedly stole property from several cars and a residence.

Matthew David Williams, 19, and Randolph D. Toole, 22, were each charged with one count of third-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree theft of property and one count of third-degree theft of property.

The arrests stemmed from an incident in the Northpoint subdivision. Officers responded to the area at around 2:20 a.m. in reference to a report of a possible auto burglary in progress.

The 911 caller told police two white men were taking property from the bed of a pick-up truck. The caller was able to give a description of the suspects.

The suspects had taken property from the bed of another pick-up truck and from a residence. Property belonging to three separate victims who reside in the 1100 block of North Lake Drive was also recovered at the scene.

Williams and Toole were taken into custody without incident and were booked into the Lee County jail to await bond.
