Discount store robbed at gunpoint

A Columbus discount store was robbed by an armed man Friday night.

The suspect entered the Bargain Town store on Francis Street shortly before 9 p.m., Columbus police Sgt. Harvey Hatcher said.

The man went to cash register, produced the handgun and took an undisclosed amount of currency before fleeing the store, Hatcher said.

Nobody was hurt in the incident.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 30s, about 6 feet 1 inches tall with a medium build. He was last seen getting into a dark-colored car.
