The Phenix City Council will be asked to vote on change orders involving the improvements to the Phenix City Water Filtration Plant.
The water filtration plant, located on 12th Avenue in Phenix City, was constructed in 1928. While the facility has garnered a number of awards for the quality of its work over the years, the city has had to pay for improvements to meet state and federal guidelines.
One such project is the construction and rehabilitation of settling basins at the plant. The Alabama Department of Environmental Management has mandated the basins be replaced, at a cost of $5 million to the city.
The city council will be voting on $25,248 in change orders to the improvements being performed by P.F. Moon & Company Inc.
