Gardener Walter Reeves coming to West Point

Friends of Hawkes Library is hosting one of the Southeast's consummate gardeners, Walter Reeves, 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the library, 100 W. 8th St. He will speak to the audience at 2:30 p.m.

Reeves has been coaching local gardeners with his unique brand of advice throughout Atlanta and the Southeast for 30 years. His weekly call-in show on News Talk 750 WSB-AM in Atlanta, "The Lawn and Garden Show with Walter Reeves," is on the air 6-10 a.m. every Saturday.

For 16 years, Reeves has written a weekly column of gardening tips and questions and answers for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In addition, he hosts "Gardening in Georgia" on Georgia Public Television. The weekly broadcast is aired each year from April through October and is in its fifth year of production.

His topic Sunday will be "From the Outhouse to White Columns - How the Georgia Gardener Came to Be." Copies of Mr. Reeves' latest publication will be available for purchase, and he will answer gardening questions as well as sign books.
