Opelika police arrest fifth suspect in March shooting

Opelika police have arrested a fifth suspect in a March trailer park shooting.

Daniel Hall of Opelika was arrested Wednesday afternoon and charged with two counts of shooting into an unoccupied dwelling, one count of attempted murder and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling. Hall, 18, has been booked into the Lee County jail.

The arrest stems from a shooting at Brookhaven trailer park on March 3.

Police received reports that two people, two mobile homes and two cars were shot at in the community between 1:30 p.m. and 1:40 p.m.

A 19-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were shot at by six suspects with semi-automatic handguns. The suspects also shot at a 1998 Chevy Cavalier and a 2005 Dodge Neon.

An excess of 20 shots were fired in the mobile home park. No one was injured.

Four other Opelika residents have been arrested in connection with the shooting.
