Valley police arrest man in Circle K robbery

Valley police have arrested a suspect in a gas station robbery that occurred earlier this week.

Shanwell Jerome Flowers, aka "Miami", was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree robbery.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred at the Circle K on Fob James Drive on Monday, April 14. A man entered the store at about 5 a.m. and robbed the clerk of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Flowers was taken into custody after a traffic stop early Wednesday morning.

At around 3 a.m., Officer Greg Reagan observed a burgundy Chevy Impala leaving the Circle K store at 64th Boulevard and Summerhill Road at a high rate of speed.

Reagan watched as the vehicle headed southbound on 64th Boulevard, made a U-turn and headed northbound.

Reagan stopped the car and encountered two men, one of which was Flowers.

Meanwhile, back at the police department, the clerk who had been robbed at the Circle K on Fob James Drive arrived and told dispatch that she had been in the Circle K on 64th Boulevard and Summerhill Road and seen Flowers come inside.

She told police she had recognized him as the man that had robbed her and that police were conducting a traffic stop on the vehicle he was in at that time.

Officers at the traffic stop took Flowers into custody.
