Police investigating death as a homicide

A woman found dead Thursday in south Columbus has spurred a homicide investigation.

Authorities found Jolena Seldon, 22, of 2723 Fern St., dead at 4845 Allen St. after a 5:10 a.m. call to police, said Columbus Police Capt. Gordon Griswould and Coroner Bill Thrower.

"This is a gunshot wound victim," Thrower said.

Seldon was found on the floor in a bedroom of the house, said Lt. Charles Kennedy. Police have suspects, but no arrests as of yet.

The coroner pronounced Seldon dead at 6 a.m. Her body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy. Results are expected Friday.

"Right now, we're looking at it as a death," the captain said. "We've got several witnesses we're talking to."
