Lakewood Golf Course will be close on May 19 for the re-grassing of its greens. Champion Turf Farms has been contracted to perform the work on the course for $53,900.
City Manager Bubba Roberts said the work should take about eight weeks to complete. While the course is closed, other maintenance will also take place as funds allow, including the repair of some of the cart paths.
The Phenix City Council Tuesday gave its official approval to a slate of new fees for the use of the course.
The amended fee schedule is $21 including cart fees Monday through Friday; and $28 including cart fees for Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
