Carpenter's Way, Our House announce merger

Carpenter's Way Ranch and Our House, two non-profit homes for foster children, announced a merger Thursday morning.

The Methodist Home for Children and Youth oversees Our House. Carpenter's Way was founded by Glenn Davis, a Columbus City Councilor and former pro ball player with the Houston Astros and Baltimore Orioles. Our House is located on a campus off Veterans Parkway. Carpenter's Way Ranch is in Fortson, and also recently added a home for girls in another part of Harris County.

The merger was necessitate in part because of changes in federal and state funding. The state of Georgia had begun focusing on smaller group-home settings.

Details of the merger continue to be negotiated.
